Learn the fundamentals and required calculations for
the HVAC design of buildings.
Topics include:
- cooling and heating load calculations
- psychometric chart analysis
- HVAC energy analysis
- air handling and equipment selection
Focus is on practical methods of HVAC calculations
using governing codes and American Society of Heating,
Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning (ASHRAE)
guidelines. Emphasis is placed on accepted rule-of-thumb
checks in HVAC load calculations and energy
analysis, including a review of available computer
programs. This course includes an optional field trip.
Prerequisite: Minimum of two years HVAC
experience or an Associate Degree in a related field.
Field Trip: This course includes an optional field trip to
a most unique facility in San Diego.
